“Our vision since 1895 is to inspire everyone to play and enjoy music thanks to the piano. Our music philosophy and passion for keys are well summarized by our slogan, “Play Piano!””

Digital piano is an independent company within the Juhl-Sørensen group, now a fourth-generation family business established over 125 years ago. From selling straight and tail pianos, to digital pianos and keyboards since they came on stage in the early eighties, their online store now caters to musicians across Europe.

With physical stores in Copenhagen, Stockholm, Helsinki and Aarhus, they boast everything from showrooms, to studios, to a large modern warehouse.

We sat down with their team to discuss their journey on implementing Confer With as an immersive live one to one video shopping experience on their website.

During the pandemic, Digital Piano saw an acceleration in interest of getting information and knowledge online as customers couldn’t just turn up to a physical showroom. As Team leader Søren Nørregaard explains: “Being a hybrid type of business with online and offline appearance we thought that giving customers the same expertise online is equally important. We also believe that this is the future of retail, and given that less and less stores like ours exist, we wanted to be first-movers.”

As an aspiring eCommerce business, they face similar challenges to most of us . Whether that be proliferation of marketing channels, evolving customer journeys, disruption to retail, multi-channel revenue attribution , market dynamics, a looming recession, how quickly products and the market can change. Yet even the complexities of the modern world, some fundamentals still hold true – there isn’t a better shopping experience than walking into a shop and being met by a helpful colleague – Digital Piano decided to bring this personalisation to their online experience.

Digital Piano seamlessly onboarded Confer With’s Live one-to-one video shopping solution onto their website, with the help of Confer With’s solution consultants.

There were multiple reasons behind Digital Piano choosing Confer With as their live shopping platform: “The first and most important one is that Confer With does not require any logins or technical knowledge to work. It’s built into the browser of the device, and all the customer needs to do is accept camera + microphone to be enabled. Other reasons like availability, scalability and intuition also played a key part.”

When asked about their biggest learnings with rolling the solution out, Søren Nørregaard said: “Tech is complex. Migration and adaption are complex. Learning is complex. I think we have learned, that giving information to the machine and expecting it to behave as you think, is not the case. So working with the information and giving the machine clues are important for the tool to really start taking off.”

With Digital Piano’s integration of the platform, there were nine different websites for Confer With’s tech team to work on, making it our first Magento store.

I believe that live shopping will be a business in growth in 2023
